Learning About Digital Cameras
When choosing a camera:
1. Megapixel does not make better pictures
2. Low light pictures need a high speed lens and greater sensitivity to light
3. Image stability helps create sharper images, even when the photographer isn't stable
4. Compare Optical zoom, ignore the digital.
5. The more dials and buttons the more adjustments you can make
6. SLR cameras give you a chance to get close to the subject from a distance.
7. There are rules for when taking a photo on how to make it a good quality photo.

Cameras can be used in an educational setting also, not just for family and vacation memories. I would choose a simple point and shoot for school use just because it gets the job done but doesn't cost me a lot of money. Also, I would be more okay with letting students use the camera to capture moments. You can take pictures of your bulletin boards to remember for next year. For seating charts you can take the students pictures to help you get to know them. Class field trips, making it easier for children to remember what they learned. Email them to parents, so they can see what their children have been learning and doing.
